Palma Sola Botanical Park is a beautiful place to start your day. Thanks to the park's protected warm microclimate, the grounds are full of rare palms, flowering trees, and a variety of subtropical plants. Prior to 1990, the grounds served as the Manatee County Nursery. Dedicated community groups, with the help of the Bradenton Herald, gathered enough support to turn the property into the botanical park that exists today. Those who want a more vigorous workout can take part in Yoga in the Park on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday. Walk in the footsteps of some of the earliest visitors to Florida at De Soto National Memorial. The park's nature trail passes along the shoreline through several different ecosystems. Interpretive signage along the trails provides fascinating information about de Soto's expedition and the site's natural history. Spring and fall are good times to see birds on their seasonal migration. Leashed dogs are welcome.
